During the course, students will create a Figure sculpture from recycled textiles & Powertex art products, suitable for outdoor display once dry.
Students will be able to chose a plaster head of their choice from a selection supplied by the tutor – European male/female, Masai or African. We will cover a number of techniques including simple armature making, material selection, textile sculpting (both dry wrapping & wet wrapping techniques) & mixing/dry brushing with pigments to add colour.
The course is ideal for beginners, new to Powertex. Examples of other projects that can be achieved using Powertex will be available to view during the course to inspiration.

Powertex Universal Medium (Bronze)
Plaster Head - a selection will be available for the students to choose from Including European male/female heads, African & Masai heads (one head to be selected per student on the day)
Recycled natural fibre Textiles & Mulberry wood paper
Student Materials List
Please wear old clothes, remove jewellery (especially rings) & tie back long hair.
Students are welcome to bring along any natural fibre textiles (cotton, denim, cotton lace, viscose, silk) which they may wish to Include In their project. However, this Is not essential as all materials necessary to complete your sculpture will be provided by the tutor.
