'Cate, I’ve so enjoyed the last couple of days and am hooked for sure. Your studio and home are wonderful and have such an atmosphere. I’m so glad I saw the advert and feel a new phase of my life has started - even at my age so a Great BIG thank you and look forward to the 4th December x'
'Hi Cate & Sue
Thank you for 2 very enjoyable days, Cate for the fabulous teaching and Sue for being just Sue. See you both very soon.'
'Cate is so friendly and encouraging to everyone who attends her courses and workshops and we always have a brilliant day while we are learning! The facilities are also second to none. I just wish I lived closer to her studio!'
'Several years ago I was introduced to Cate by a friend. Several workshops later I have become a more confident and productive artist. Her commitment and passion for teaching art is invaluable. She makes everyone in the workshops feel special and draws the best out of them. The most tolerant, considerate, warm, generous and patient tutor I have ever encountered.'
'The class is held in a stunning location in Oxfordshire, in Cate's fantastic modern kitchen,
I attended this class to learn the art of making beautiful organic bread, the good old fashioned way, without the need for mixers or bread maker.
We made our own pizza bases with toppings and enjoyed eating these for our lunch.
We could choose which type of bread we wanted to make and how we wanted to shape into rolls or loaves, everything was supplied for us, we just had to take ourselves on the day!
A small group so was easy to ask questions and get advice I recommend this workshop if you want to learn how to make bread in a relaxed informal atmosphere... Great fun!'
'I enjoyed many art classes with Cate at her lovely studio and she was very informative and helpful. Art materials are available if required and she told me where to buy my own as well. I learnt the techniques necessary to produce some very satisfactory pastel paintings of animals.'
'I found Cate to be very encouraging and supportive when I went to her class after a long illness. I had completely lost my confidence and felt that I could no longer do art.
She helped me to slowly regain my confidence, encouraged me and was very sensitive to my needs.'
I am delighted to read that you are going to open a school in your studio.
The lucky students who attend will, from personal experience, have one
of the kindest, most patient and gifted artists that it has been my luck
and enjoyment to learn from.
As I have myself done, your students will learn and vastly improve their
abilities without even knowing it is happening.
Go to it girl !!
Best wishes to you and your new enterprise'

“Good presentation and formats with info demo and exercises. Ruth plans the pace of her workshops as well as she plans the pace of her paintings. Thank you again for such a superior workshop!”
“Ruth’s painting was fun and informative to watch and she is very generous with her experience and information. Her critiques were very kind and knowledgeable”
"I have attended many workshops in both painting and drawing over the years, in different countries, but Ruth's sessions are undoubtedly not only the best value for money but among the most useful and inspirational. Ruth's teaching is very much tailored to the individual and their needs and abilities, and much of the information imparted is highly original and inventive. Even experienced, professional artists could learn much from Ruth! Highly recommended.”
Testimonials - Artist - Dawn Harries
‘I attended a couple of Dawn’s acrylic workshops and thoroughly enjoyed them. She had prepared sheets with one of her own landscape/seascape reference photos and colour suggestions, and pointers on how to mix various colours to achieve for example skies and clouds. These were very useful for taking home and working from at a later stage and for other subjects as well. She then demonstrated various techniques with brushes and palette knives. She made everyone feel relaxed and keen to have a go. Her cheerful easygoing manner made for a most enjoyable session, and I can only say I wish she could do this more regularly.’
'My Mother and I had the pleasure of attending one of Dawn’s workshops. She has a kind and calm manner which buoys you along, an extensive knowledge of colour and application, and a great understanding of both her subject and how to help people achieve the best results. Everybody was absolutely thrilled with their finished paintings, and amazed at how much they had achieved. Despite the participants having very varying levels of previous work, or in some cases no previous experience, we were all given appropriate levels of help, encouragement and tuition. I would thoroughly recommend her workshops to anyone of any level.'
'I was among those who attended one of Dawn’s three session art workshops using acrylic paints. The friendly relaxed atmosphere, and the clear, inspiring, easy to follow and personal instruction enabled us all to go away with good pointers for future work in acrylics, together with a recognisable painting of a scene in the Brecon Beacons.'
